Richard Shannon Hoon (born September 26, 1967 in Lafayette, Indiana) was a singer-songwriter who was best known for being the lead singer of the rock band, “Blind Melon” from 1990 until his death. Shannon died on October 21, 1995 and his death was reportedly because of a cocaine overdose. He died at the young and impressionable age of 28.
