Spalding Gray (born June 5, 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island) was a playwright and TV writer who was best known for creating autobiographical monologues that he wrote and performed during the 1980s and 1990s. He also made film adaptations of these works, beginning in the late 1980s. Spalding died on January 11, 2004 and his death was possibly because of suicide by drowning. He was only 62.
