Thor Heyerdahl (born October 6, 1914 in Larvik, Norway) was a notable person and cinematographer who was best known for his Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947. In that he sailed 8,000 km across the Pacific Ocean in a raft from South America to the Tuamotu Islands. Thor died on April 18, 2002 and his death was because of a brain tumor. He died at age 87.
