Walter Leland Cronkite Jr. (born November 4, 1916 in Saint Joseph, Missouri) was a broadcaster and journalist who was best known for serving as anchorman for the American network TV news program, "CBS Evening News" for 19 years during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Walter died on July 17, 2009 and his death was because of a stroke caused by cerebrovascular disease. He died at age 92.
