Chiang Kai-shek (born October 31, 1887 in Xikou, Ningbo, China) was a politician and military personnel who was best known for serving as the leader of the Republic of China from 1928, until 1949 in China, and then in Taiwan. Kai-shek died on April 5, 1975 and his death was because of a heart attack and pneumonia. He died at age 87.
