Melvin Howard Tormé (born September 13, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois) was a musician, singer, and composer who was best known for composing the 1945 music, “The Christmas Song” which he co-wrote the lyrics with Bob Wells. Mel died on June 5, 1999 and his death was because of a stroke. He died at age 73.
