Kate Chopin (born February 8, 1850 in St. Louis, Missouri) was an author and novelist who was best known for being a forerunner of American 20th century feminist authors of Catholic background and for her 1899 novel, “The Awakening.” Kate died on August 22, 1904 and her death was because of a cerebral hemorrhage. She died too soon at age 54.
