Rachel Louise Carson (born May 27, 1907 in Springdale, Pennsylvania) was an academic and writer who was best known for her 1962 book, “Silent Spring,” and other writings that advanced the global environmental movement. Rachel died on April 14, 1964 and her sudden death was because of a heart attack. She died quite young at just 56.
